Who We Work With
Our Vision
Looking to create an optimal training environment for young athletes, our Junior Development Program offers a comprehensive approach to nurture the next generation of elite competitors.
We understand that parents want the best for their children, and we aim to provide this by giving juniors the opportunities and tools they need to grow and succeed. The program individualises training to cater for different stages of growth and development.
During their teenage years, juniors experience significant growth spurts, resulting in greater physical demands on their bodies. With this in mind, our Junior Development Program is designed to guide juniors and parents through the different stages of development, helping them to build a foundation of strength, power and speed.
Through tailored screening and individualised training, our program focuses on improving movement patterns, coordination, strength, power and speed. Our expert team at Precision Athletica provides athletes with an environment that fosters an athlete’s mindset through education and interaction. By maximising athletic potential both physically and mentally, our program gives young athletes every chance to achieve their long-term sporting goals.
Join our Junior Development Program today and give your child the best possible chance to succeed.
Our Results
What’s Involved
Our comprehensive testing begins with a Junior Athletic Movement Assessment, designed to evaluate your child’s stage of growth, maturation, and movement competency.
Utilising video capturing technology, we analyze their movement patterns during activities such as running, jumping, landing, change of direction, hand-eye coordination, and bodyweight strength movements.
This valuable information allows our team to tailor individualised training programs, addressing your child’s specific strengths and weaknesses.
Being able to perform simple skills early on, increases the capacity of your child to perform more complex skills and participate in sport specific training.
Nailing the fundamentals early creates the foundations for a more athletic junior athlete which in many cases are the ones who are viewed as “talented”.
Your child becoming more efficient movers leads to becoming a more confident athlete knowing their body can handle the demands of competition.
Strength development is important across all sporting codes. You will not see an elite set up today where strength development doesn’t play a part in weekly training.
Faster, stronger, more powerful athletes are the way of the future! So, exposing your child to this environment as early as possible is a no brainer in increasing their confidence and more importantly their competency in participating in a strength program safely.
Strength training is different from a 10 year old to a 15 year old, but regardless of age, it is proven to decrease the likelihood of growth and sport related injuries during their growing years.
Understanding how to train is one thing. Understanding how to become an elite athlete is another.
The success of a Junior Program is not getting stronger and faster, but developing a large toolbox around training, recovery, nutrition and game preparation.
The Junior Development Program involves constant interaction with parents and coaches through formal athlete reviews and seminars to ensure they feel like they have all the right tools and information to guide their child through their teenage years.
Meet the Head of Junior Development
JUSTIN TRANG
I have worked in the Junior Athletic Development space for over 10 years, first starting in football coaching before moving to Precision Athletica to work closely with over 150 junior athletes across 42 different sports.
As an Exercise Physiologist by trade I have always looked for ways to put more detail into our services to make sure we develop our athletes with the most up to date research and methods possible.
The Junior Development Program we have established is quite simple:
- What are the physical characteristics we want to see in our elite athletes?
- Where is my junior athlete currently at?
- What is the roadmap for their physical development in order to get them ready for future success?
If you are looking to invest in your child to increase their long-term performance, reduce injury risk and looking for a team who will heavily invest their time and effort in your child, you’ve found the right place!
Testimonials
Mahika 10 – Athletics and Cross Country
Precision Athletica’s Junior Development Program has been transformative for Mahika. In just over a year, her running times in both little athletics and cross
country have significantly improved. The program’s structured approach, covering all aspects of athleticism not just running performance, is backed with periodic assessments to track progress. What sets Precision Athletica apart is the fun, nurturing environment where kids thrive under the guidance of top-notch coaches. This program has laid the perfect foundation for Mahika’s athletic success, and we couldn’t be happier with the results and would recommend this to any parents looking for more guidance with their kids!

Tiana Roberts 12 – Fencer
Since starting at Precision Athletica (2 years ago) we have observed a substantial difference with Tiana in both her sporting achievements and in her physical development. She has developed a specific skill set
which has seen her reach many of her sporting aspirations including Rankings of number 1 in U10’s (Girls Sabre), number 1 in U12’s (Girls Sabre), 2nd in U14’s (Girls Sabre), 2nd in U15s, 3rd in under 17s. She is now also competing in u20s and opens. Also she is the Australian Youth Champion.
The program Tiana has enrolled in has been specifically developed to suit Tiana and her chosen sport of Fencing. The team at Precision Athletica has been incredibly flexible and adaptable in the structure of the program, so much so that Tiana’s coach was allowed to visit a training session to provide feedback in relation to the specific movements and requirements associated with the sport of Fencing. This information then provided a baseline for the program to be developed by Precision Athletica to specifically cater for the demands of this Sport.
The environment is friendly, warm and welcoming. Lots of hard work and discipline (with a bit of fun along the way)!!
The lessons being taught at Precision Athletica provide discipline and structure. The athletes are given tasks to do during the week and on longer breaks such as Xmas & Easter, etc., With dedication and commitment the athlete benefits both in their chosen sporting fields but also outside of sport where they can understand the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle. Success is enjoyed both inside and outside the sporting arena.
Perhaps the most pleasing thing about Precision Athletica is the personalised structure of the Training Program. All aspects of Tiana’s program have been specifically tailored to suit her sport, her age and her personal attributes. The outcomes of the program are continuously tracked and monitored and then modified as necessary. It is also a really fun place to train.

Tristan Lee 12 – Tennis
My son is a passionate tennis player, which is why we enrolled him at Voyager Tennis Academies full time program who in turn recommended
Precision Athletica to us. When he started the program, he was
the slowest, least agile kid in the academy.
At first, I thought it was all from the extra weight he was carrying because he was a chubby kid. But his trainers sat down with me to explain how they develop junior athletes and that’s when I learned that it’s not as simple as losing weight or learning to run faster.
They tested individual aspects of my son’s physical ability and from there, tailored a program for him, also taking into account his age, growth and development. That’s when I learned that they’re not just after making my son run faster on the court, but more than that, they intend to build a solid foundation which will benefit him not only now but in the many years to come.
Their understanding of junior physical development and how they time certain training accordingly is amazing. I always thought my son’s problem is that he’s not running fast enough. But since he started with Precision, I’ve seen him get faster, fitter, and more agile, not by putting him on the treadmill (they haven’t done that at all), but by targeting the areas that they found he needs to develop first, such as his basic motor skills.
His UTR increased significantly (and is steadily increasing) and has reached junior doubles finals twice, one of which he won.
I understand now that he will not be the fastest junior tennis player at the moment, but if he stays on the right path of physical training, he will have a stable physical foundation to support him long-term in his life, and that’s what I think is the best investment one can make for their child.

Frequently Ask Questions
The Junior Program is suitable for any athlete aged 10-15 years old. We also run our advance development program for athletes past this age. You can get in touch with us through our general enquiry on the contact page.
Yes there is car parking inside the centre and externally around Sydney Olympic Park.
No, our message is to allocate an hour or 2 during the week (which is not much compared to how much sport training kids do) to work on general athleticism. Kids can only benefit from becoming more athletic.
The program is a term commitment. You invest money into your child’s development and expect results. In order to get results, they must train consistently. In saying that:
- Max 2 make up sessions per term
- All make up sessions must be completed during the same term
- If your child is unable to train due to injury, the remaining sessions will be coordinated with the JDP and Physio department to get your child back to their sport
Strength development for juniors is largely dependent on their stage of development. Peak height velocity, commonly known as the growth spurt is the period of time when your child experiences their greatest acceleration in growth and stature. The JDP prescribes suitable strength training during specific stages of development.
Prior to peak height velocity, juniors don’t get stronger and faster not through traditional strength methods because their body hasn’t experienced changes associated with their growth spurt. They get stronger through neuromuscular adaptations or moving more efficiently by becoming more coordinated.
Children get stronger and faster by moving more efficiently and not by lifting heavy when they are young. Movement skill development helps to create good athleticism but also stretching the length of their physical development journey so that they have time to master each stage of development.
Speed and agility is definitely integrated into our Junior Development Program. To get faster and more agile, we believe athletes should start working on these movements as early as possible. As a result, depending on their stage of development, we will address speed and agility as we see fit to best progress your child.
We also have school holiday camps which gives athletes the opportunity to get a more intense exposure to speed and agility work without compromising other areas of development.
We place a big emphasis on physical development as that is predominantly the reason parents send their athletes to our facility. However, during their time here, we also address areas around nutrition, recovery, game preparation and developing athlete mindsets. We believe elite sport is more than just the physical. That’s why we have a big team of Exercise Physiologists, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, Junior Development Coaches, Physiotherapists and Sports Dietitians to develop a holistic athlete
